Subject: New AmTrac Forum

As some of you might be aware, I have had some problems in the recent past with our Forum Section.  Some of the most recent problems were with the automatic notification which allows you to receive notification when new postings are posted to the Forum.  This problem also affected new member's ability to activate their accounts once they were registered.

Over the past five years, I have upgraded the Forum's software several times but the Forum's "Access" database has remained pretty much the same as when we started.  To fix the problems we have been experiencing and to provide better service to you, I decided it was time to upgrade the Forum software again.  This new upgrade would require an upgrade to the database as well.

Rather then upgrade the "Access" database; I decided to go with a "SQL Server" database.  The new Forum software with the "SQL Server" database will provide better service to you, our members.

The down side to this upgrade is this:  The time, energy and cost to convert the old "Access" database files to the new "SQL Server" database is more then the value of doing so.  As a result, we will be starting new with an all new Forum.  The old Forum will still be around so that you can see what has been posted in the past, but you will not be able to post anything to the old Forum which will now be called The Forum Archives.

The AmTrac Forums is the name of the new Forum.  Before you can post anything here, you will need to register as a new user.  If there is any topics posted in The Forum Archives that you want to continue with, you will need to start a New Topic in The AmTrac Forums.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this causes you, but in the long run it will be better.
